Castle Rock is a community that promotes an active lifestyle and if you live here, you’ve definitely heard about the exciting new Philip S. Miller Park. Well, the time has finally arrived and this weekend is the Grand Opening Celebration! Join in the festivities Saturday, October, 25 starting at 8 a.m.
MAC Fields and More
While driving around Plum Creek —just south of Wolfensberger —you’ve likely seen the big field house being built. That’s the Miller Activity Complex (MAC), but it offers so much more than indoor fields. In addition to full-sized and half-sized synthetic turf fields, the MAC is home to an aquatic center featuring a leisure pool with four lap lanes, indoor batting cages and more. Kids will enjoy a climbing structure, trampoline room, and birthday party rooms.
Personally, I’m very excited about the golf simulator. I could join a winter league and even attempt to fix my swing with lessons. The best part, the simulator will let me play a variety of courses.
If you’re into working out, as so many Castle Rock citizens are, there will also be plenty of fitness classes for you to choose from.
Miles of Outdoor Fun
There’s plenty of outdoor fun at the park too. Along with lighted turf fields, there’s more than 6 miles of hiking and biking trails. If you’re up for a test of your physical endurance, you can take on the challenge staircase.
In the near future, you’ll be able to get a thrill on zip-lines, and kids will be able to play on the adventure playground. Whether you’re an athlete at the peak of your game or if you’re like me, and not so athletic, there’s something for all of us.
Grand Opening Celebration
This Saturday (Oct 25, 2014), explore the entire complex for free during the Grand Opening Celebration. Kids can explore the indoor play area. Check out the fields, golf, pools and everything else this new park has to offer. The day kicks off with 10K, 5K, and family adventure runs, and then feel free to explore the MAC and park throughout the day. For more information on the events visit crgov.com/PSMgrandopening. The celebrating kicks off at 8:00 a.m.
For us living in The Meadows, it’s an opportunity to enjoy even more recreation right in our own backyard. It’s just 5 minutes away! I can’t wait. I’ll be the guy with the horrible golf swing in the simulator.
